Christian Seidl

Christian Seidl was born on August 5, 1940, in Vienna. He studied at the Vienna School of Economics (Diploma 1966, PhD 1969). He worked at the University of Vienna (Habilitation 1973) and as a full professor of economics at the universities of Graz and Kiel. He is a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. He was a visiting scholar at several universities and holds a guest professorship at the Moscow School of Economics. He served as a co-editor of several learned journals. Professor Seidl has published more than 150 articles, is the author of three books [among them Theorie, Modelle und Methoden der zentralen Planwirtschaft] and has edited or co-edited 14 books [among them two volumes of the Handbook of Utility Theory]. Seidl’s research extends to experimental economics, public economics, social policy, history of economic ideas, theories of allocation and distribution, decision and utility theories, social choice, tax reform, and welfare economics.
